Ep. 50 — Nursing in Ohio on Nightingale's Birthday: A Conversation with Leaders at the OSU College of Nursing
Dan Skinner talks with Drs. Candy Rinehart, Angela Alston, and Bernadette Melnyk from the Ohio State College of Nursing about the challenges nurses face working during the COVID-19 pandemic and what the nursing field is learning from COVID-19. With the tragic and recent passing of Bernard Atta, a nurse working in an Ohio correctional facility, alongside the US death count nearing one-hundred thousand, the group frames their discussion about the well-being of healthcare workers around OSU’s partnership with Trusted Health to combat nurse burnout and safety issues. Looking forward, the group thinks about what changes in nursing education and medical student culture will arise as the next generation of healthcare professionals turns the corner.
Dr. Candy Rinehart is the head of OSU’s Total Health and Wellness nurse practitioner-led practice, Dr. Angela Alston is Chief Diversity Officer at OSU's College of Nursing, and Dr. Bernadette Melnyk is Dean of the College of Nuring and Chief Wellness Officer at OSU.
